Tasting the Future: A Steins;Gate 0 Reminder to Act Today2 min read

Have you ever wondered what your life might look like ten years from now if you don’t change anything today?

Sometimes, we wish we could see the future—not just because we’re curious, but to understand what our choices lead to.

In the anime Steins; Gate 0, the main character actually gets that chance: he ends up in a world ruined by World War III, all because he was too tired and stopped trying.

He once changed the past and saved many people, thinking he had finally found the “right” path. But he was so burnt out that he couldn’t imagine something better.

This reminds me of a quote from Alex Hormozi:

“Sure, you might have terrible circumstances—and so what? if you don’t take ownership, nothing changes.”

When the hero sees a future full of war, it scares him so much that he finds new strength. He remembers why he once fought so hard—to protect someone he loves.

We don’t have a time machine, but we do have our imaginations. We can still make real changes today by thinking about tomorrow.

Try this simple exercise:

1. Worst Future

Imagine it’s the year 2036 (or any other), and you never changed your habits.

⚫︎ What problems might you face?

  Please write it down

⚫︎ How would you feel living in that future?

Feel it now as good as you can.

  It can be painful

2. Best Future

Now, imagine you decide to take action, overcome your fears, and try something new.

⚫︎What good things could happen?

  Please write it down

⚫︎ How would you feel if life got better?

Feel it now as good as you can

  It can become your motivation

By picturing both futures, you can “taste” tomorrow right now.

If you don’t like the worst one, let it be a sign that it’s time to do something different.

Ask yourself, “Which future do I really want?”

You won’t get a forced trip to a terrible timeline like the anime hero did. Instead, you have to find the courage to change course while there’s still time.

Maybe that means signing up for a class, sending an important message, or fixing a belief that holds you back.

Even small steps can lead to big changes.

Your future starts with one action today.

Pick it wisely, so you won’t regret it tomorrow.
